EMDR, CBT-L5, PGDip CYP, MSc, BSc (Hons)
I have extensive experience working with those who have faced the impact of trauma, navigating their gender identity, struggling with depression and/or anxiety, or who want to strengthen self esteem, tailoring my approach to your needs. I believe healing is a journey that you don’t have to do alone. I’m here to walk with you, offering kindness, knowledge, and genuine care every step of the way.
My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and free to be yourself. I believe everyone has the ability to change and grow, and I will work at your pace, towards your goals, using different therapeutic approaches.
That said, I don't see myself as the expert in your life, you are. Our work together is a partnership, so together we’ll look at what's going on in your life, help you feel better, and work towards real, lasting change, so you’re not just getting through the day, but truly living your life. Through our collaboration, reflection, and trust, we can explore the challenges life has placed in your path and begin to move through them, one step at a time, untangling what feels stuck and begin to shape a new path forward.
EMDR is a therapeutic approach designed to help individuals process and heal from traumatic experiences. It involves guiding clients to recall distressing memories while engaging in specific eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation. The goal is to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, allowing the individual to reframe it and integrate it in a healthier way. EMDR is particularly effective for trauma, PTSD, and other emotional disturbances tied to past experiences. It aims to facilitate the brain’s natural healing process, promoting emotional and psychological recovery.
The basics - EMDR UK AssociationCBT is a structured, goal-oriented therapeutic approach that focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviours that contribute to emotional distress. It is based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are interconnected, and by altering negative thoughts, we can improve emotional responses and behaviours. CBT is typically short-term and emphasises practical strategies to help individuals cope with issues like anxiety, depression, and stress, aiming for lasting change and improved mental wellbeing.
What is CBT?The approach involves talking about your thoughts, feelings and behaviour aiming to give you a safe time and place to talk to someone who won't judge you, make sense of things and understand yourself better, support you resolve complicated feelings, or find ways to live with them, and support you recognise unhelpful patterns in the way you think or act, and find ways to change them (if you want to).
Benefits of talking therapies - NHSSomatic-based therapy focuses on the connection between the mind and body, helping individuals process trauma and emotional distress through physical sensations. It recognises that unresolved trauma is often stored in the body, leading to tension, discomfort, or physical symptoms. In this approach, clients are guided to become more aware of their bodily sensations, which can help release trapped emotions and promote healing. Techniques may include breathwork, movement, touch, and mindfulness, aiming to restore balance and facilitate emotional regulation. It's particularly effective for trauma, anxiety, and stress-related issues
Somatic Experiencing® (SE™) | Explore Healing Methods — Ergos Institute, inc™Walk and talk therapy is a type of counselling where the client and therapist engage in therapy while walking outdoors, typically in a natural setting. The physical movement can help reduce stress and promote relaxation, making it easier for clients to open up. This approach combines the benefits of traditional talking therapy with the therapeutic effects of exercise and nature. It can be especially helpful for those who feel anxious or confined in a traditional office setting, offering a more dynamic and informal space for self-exploration and healing..
What is walk and talk therapy?Other techniques may be used such as Emotional Freedom Tapping (EFT), REWIND, Creative Therapies, and Mindfulness which may be discussed further during therapy. For example, EFT involves tapping on specific meridian points on the body while focusing on a particular issue or emotional distress, whereas REWIND includes a visualisation process that can be best 85% reduction rate in symptoms after one session.
How Rewind Therapy can help people with PTSD EFT 'tapping' for PTSDAt Waves of Wisdom, I provide specialised therapeutic support for children ages three and upwards, and teenagers. I understand that young people experience and process emotions differently than adults, which is why I use age-appropriate approaches tailored to their unique learning needs. I also have experience in working with neurodivergence, such as ASD and ADHD, and therefore have an understanding of embracing their way of thinking, learning, and interacting with the world. For younger children, I often incorporate play therapy, art, and creative expression to help them communicate feelings they may not have words for yet.
For teens, I create a safe, non-judgmental space where they can explore their identity, navigate social pressures, and develop healthy coping strategies. This involves building trust, understanding their unique challenges, and providing support in a way that respects their autonomy. Key strategies will include factors such as establishing rapport, empowerment and goal setting.
I work collaboratively with parents/caregivers while maintaining appropriate confidentiality for the young person. My goal is to create a supportive environment where children and teens can develop resilience, emotional intelligence, and the skills they need to thrive.
Step into a space inspired by the calming rhythm of the ocean. My therapy room is designed to feel like a tranquil retreat—soft blues, gentle wave motifs, and natural textures create a soothing atmosphere where healing can begin.
Just as the ocean holds depth, movement, and clarity, this space invites you to explore your own emotional currents with compassion and courage.
The theme, Waves of Wisdom, reflects the belief that insight often comes in gentle waves—building, rising, and eventually bringing clarity to the surface.
Whether you're navigating stormy waters or seeking stillness, this space is your harbour—a safe, peaceful place to breathe, reflect, and grow.

Your first session is primarily about getting to know each other and establishing a therapeutic relationship. We'll discuss what brings you to therapy, your background, and your goals. This is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions about the therapy process. There's no pressure to share more than you're comfortable with, and we'll move at a pace that feels right for you.
Standard therapy sessions last 50 minutes. However, certain therapeutic approaches like EMDR may require longer sessions of up to 90 minutes. We'll discuss the appropriate session length based on your specific needs and the therapeutic approach we're using.
The number of sessions varies greatly depending on your individual circumstances, the complexity of the issues you're facing, and your personal goals. Some clients benefit from short-term therapy (6-12 sessions), while others prefer longer-term support. We'll regularly review your progress together and adjust the treatment plan as needed.
Confidentiality is a fundamental aspect of therapy. What you share remains private, with a few exceptions: if there's risk of harm to yourself or others, concerns about child safety, or certain legal requirements. These limitations to confidentiality will be fully explained during your first session.
Sessions start from £50. I offer various payment options including bank transfer and card payments. Some health insurance plans may cover therapy services, so check with your provider if this applies to you. Please contact me for more fee information.
During our initial consultation, we'll discuss your specific concerns, history, and goals to determine the most appropriate therapeutic approach. As an integrative therapist, I draw from various modalities to create a personalised treatment plan that best addresses your unique needs. This approach may evolve as we work together and gain more insight into what works best for you.
